General
Canfor’s Forest Management Group has positions ranging from 4 to 11 months, with varying start and end dates throughout BC and Alberta. We encourage all levels of experience to apply, as there are entry level and supervisory roles available
Major Duties:
- FIELD OPERATIONS STAFF will be responsible for layout and/or timber cruising activities as well as photo interpretation and stratification, layout of cutblocks and roads, traversing, pest identification and management, riparian/stream classification, layout reports, cutting permit applications, development of cruise plans, operational cruising and mapping of field information, ecotyping, and field resource assessments.
- SILVICULTURE STAFF will be responsible for the implementation and supervision of planting, site preparation, and stand-tending projects utilizing performance management systems and updating the Genus database with planned and completed activities. Completing post harvest prescriptions, plantation assessments and assisting with Site Plan amendments may also be required.
Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants enrolled or graduated from a forestry program or related field; however anyone with forestry experience is encouraged to apply.
- You must have excellent communication skills
- You must have the ability to safely perform physically demanding fieldwork in a team environment
- A valid class 5 drivers license
