James F. Shepard, P.Eng.
President and Chief Executive Officer
James F. Shepard, P.Eng., of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company on July 27, 2007. Mr. Shepard is a Director of the Company.
Mr. Shepard retired from Finning International Inc. in April 2000 after a 32-year career, including nine years as Chief Executive Officer (1991 to 2000). Mr. Shepard also served as Chairman of the Board of Finning International Inc., Chairman of the Board of MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates, Vice-Chairman of the Conference Board of Canada, Vice-Chairman of the Business Council on National Issues, Honorary Chairman of Leadership Vancouver and is the past Chairman of the Executive Committee for the Business Council of B.C. He was founding Co-Chairman of the Business Summit of B.C. and is a member of The Conference Board, Inc., New York. Mr. Shepard was a Director of Imperial Oil Limited and initial Chairman of the Cabinet of the Business Laureates of the B.C. Hall of Fame.
Mr. Shepard received a B.Sc. Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of British Columbia and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of B.C.
David M. Calabrigo
Vice-President, Corporate Development, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
David Calabrigo was appointed General Counsel and Corporate Secretary on January 3, 2001; on July 1, 2003 he was appointed Vice-President, Human Resources, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, and on April 2, 2004 he was appointed Vice-President, Corporate Development, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Prior to his joining the Company he was General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Viceroy Resource Corporation.
Born and raised in British Columbia, Mr. Calabrigo received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University and then his Law degree from the University of Alberta.
Alistair Cook
Vice-President, Capital Projects
Alistair Cook was appointed Vice President, Capital Projects in July 2008. Prior to this appointment, Alistair held a number of senior management positions in the Company, including General Manager, Value Optimization, Treasurer, and Operations Controller for the company.
Born and raised in British Columbia, Mr. Cook received his Bachelor of Science in Business from Michigan Technological University in 1988. He is Chartered Accountant registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia.
Alistair began his career with Canfor in 1993 and has held a variety of Financial and Manufacturing roles throughout the entire organization.
Mark A. Feldinger
Vice-President, Wood Products Manufacturing
Mark Feldinger was appointed Vice President, Manufacturing in August 2007. Prior to this appointment, Mark held a number of senior management positions in the Company, including Regional Manager-Prince George Region, General Manager-Prince George Division and General Manager-Interior Woodlands (BC and Alta).
Born and raised in British Columbia, Mr. Feldinger received his Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of British Columbia in 1983. He is a Registered Professional Forester with the Association of B.C. Forest Professionals.
Mark began his career with Canfor in 1984 and has held a variety of Woodlands and Manufacturing roles throughout Canfor’s Wood Products Group.
Ken O. Higginbotham
Vice President, Forestry & Environment
Ken Higginbotham was appointed Vice-President, Forestry and Environment of Canfor in June 2005. Prior to that, Mr. Higginbotham was Vice President Forestry, Environment and External Relations.
Born in Denver, Colorado and raised in Twin Falls, Idaho, Ken Higginbotham received both a Bachelor and Masters of Science degree in Forestry from Utah State University and a Doctorate in Plant Ecology from Duke University.
While completing his university education, Mr. Higginbotham spent two years working with the U.S. Forest Service and as a Research Assistant at Utah State University. His career in academia began in 1974 at the University of North Carolina as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany and subsequently the University of Alberta from 1975 to 1988 as an Associate Professor in the Department of Forest Science.
Ken Higginbotham was appointed the Director of the Forest Research Branch for the province of Alberta in 1988 and in 1989, he was appointed the Assistant Deputy Minister in the Land and Forest Service of Alberta. Mr. Higginbotham first joined Canfor in 1995 as the Vice-President and Chief Forester.
Don B. Kayne
Vice-President, Wood Products Marketing and Sales
Donald Kayne was appointed Canfor's Vice President, Wood Products Marketing and Sales in January 2001. Prior to this appointment, he was General Manager, Wood Products Sales and Marketing for six years.
Born and raised in North Vancouver, Mr. Kayne completed the Forestry and Business Administration program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
Donald began his career with Canfor in 1979, and has held a variety of sales and marketing roles in our Wood Products Group.
Thomas Sitar
Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer
Thomas Sitar, CA, was appointed Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer on November 3, 2007. Prior to this appointment he was Chief Financial Officer and Secretary of Canfor Pulp Limited Partnership.
He was Chief Financial Officer of Gryphon Gold Corporation from November 2004 to May 2006. From 1980 to 2003, he held a number of positions with Weldwood of Canada Limited, including Treasurer from 1986 to 1998 and as Vice-President, Finance from 1998 to 2003. Mr. Sitar has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Windsor and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of B.C.
Rob Stewart
Vice-President, Human Resources
Mr. Stewart was appointed Vice President, Human Resources of Canfor on June 22nd 2007. During his 30-year career with Canfor, Rob has been involved in designing employee development and performance improvement programs at both the operational and corporate levels. In his role, Rob has also been responsible for the transition and employee integration strategies resulting from merger and acquisition transactions and company reorganization initiatives.
In his previous role as General Manager of Learning and Organizational Development, Rob was responsible for Canfor's succession planning and leadership development programs.
Mr. Stewart received his Diploma of Engineering Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and a Certificate in Conflict Resolution from the Justice Institute of British Columbia.
