'Tis the Season to Give Back

This is Canfor’s 13th year in a row participating in the Vancouver Festival of Tree, in support of the BC Children’s Hospital.

Most of us look forward to spending the holidays with friends and family, exchanging gifts and enjoying wonderful dinners. But to some people, this can be an especially tough time.

Canfor is a strong supporter of our communities throughout the year, and we know our help is appreciated even more during this special season.

That’s why we have donated $30,000 to organizations such as local food banks, the Salvation Army and Christmas bureau societies that do so much for so many people in the communities where we operate. Our contributions are divided among 28 organizations in Canada and the United States – and have grown with our company.

In addition to our corporate activities, I know many of our employees are pitching in to help local food banks, distribute hampers, collect warm clothing and sponsor families in their communities.

Canfor’s entry into the Prince George Festival of Trees is much more than a decorated tree. There are lots of items inside the tent and under the tree – all up for auction to support of bringing healthcare closer to those in northern BC.

On top of this, Canfor is once again involved in the Prince George and Vancouver Festival of Trees fundraisers. The Prince George event supports the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation to improve health care in northern B.C. The festival in Vancouver, which is at the Four Seasons Hotel downtown until Jan. 2, raises funds for the BC Children’s Hospital.

Once again, Canfor is a sponsor of St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation’s Lights of Hope campaign. We are one of the many bright stars on the brightly decorated display outside the hospital.

We are also a sponsor the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation Lights of Hope campaign, a spectacular display of lights in downtown Vancouver that continues to Jan. 9.

From all of us at Canfor, best wishes for a safe and happy holiday.
