Partnering to Support Wetlands and Waterfowl in Canada’s Boreal Forest

By Kari Stuart-Smith, Senior Forest Scientist

Together with other forest sector leaders, Canfor is partnering with Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) to advance sustainable forest management and wetland stewardship in Canada’s boreal forest.

The Forest Management and Wetland Stewardship Initiative, which was announced on January 12, will have Canfor and other forest sector leaders working collaboratively with DUC on priority projects that integrate wetland and waterfowl conservation into ongoing forest management planning and field operations. This three-year initiative is a collaborative approach that will support both a healthy economy and abundant wildlife habitat.

Sustainable forestry management is a priority at Canfor, and a responsibility we take seriously. Canfor is proud to be a part of this innovative partnership, which will have a positive impact on habitat in the Canadian Boreal Forest, as well as help Canfor, and other forestry companies, advance on our commitments to environmental performance.
