Reforestation Milestone in Prince George Natural Resource District

From left to right: Susan Scott, acting mayor on behalf of mayor Lynn Hall; Chief Dominic Frederick, Lheidli T'enneh; Shirley Bond, MLA for Prince George-Valemont; and Mike Morris, MLA for Prince George-Mackenzie.

A significant milestone in reforestation took place today when the Honourable Shirley Bond, MLA for Prince George-Valemont (second from right); and the Honourable Mike Morris, MLA for Prince George Mackenzie (far right); planted the one billionth seedling in the Prince George Natural Resource District.

As part of our commitment to sustainable forest management, reforestation is key to Canfor’s operations. To support the growth and to ensure a strong supply of this valuable natural resource, we are active in replanting and tending our forest tenure – a significant proportion of which is located in the Prince George Natural Resource District. In 2015, Canfor planted 78 million trees on our tenures – that’s almost 12 million more than in 2014.

Canfor proudly joined Minsters Shirley Bond and Mike Morris in Prince George at the Central British Columbia Railway and Forestry Museum for the official planting of this celebrated seedling.
