President and Chief Executive Officer
Don Kayne was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Canfor Corporation on May 5, 2011. He was additionally appointed Chief Executive Officer of Canfor Pulp Products Incorporated on September 30, 2012.
Previously, Mr. Kayne was Canfor's Vice President, Wood Products Marketing and Sales for ten years dating back to January 2001. Mr. Kayne also served as General Manager, Wood Products Sales and Marketing for six years.
Born and raised in North Vancouver, Mr. Kayne completed the Forestry and Business Administration program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Mr. Kayne began his career with Canfor in 1979, and has held a variety of sales and marketing roles in our Wood Products Group.
David Calabrigo, QC
Senior Vice President, Corporate and Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretary
David Calabrigo was appointed Senior Vice President, Corporate and Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretary on May 6, 2011. Prior to this Mr. Calabrigo was appointed General Counsel and Corporate Secretary on January 3, 2001; on July 1, 2003 he was appointed Vice President, Human Resources, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, and on April 2, 2004 he was appointed Vice-President, Corporate Development, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary.
Prior to his joining the Company he was General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Viceroy Resource Corporation. Born and raised in British Columbia, Mr. Calabrigo received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University and then his Law degree from the University of Alberta.
Senior Vice President, Wood Products Operations - Canada
Alistair Cook was appointed Senior Vice President – Wood Products Operations Canada on May 6, 2011. Prior to this, Mr. Cook had been Vice President, Capital Projects since July 2008. Over more than 20 years with the Company, Mr. Cook has held a number of senior management positions including General Manager, Value Optimization, Treasurer, and Operations Controller.
Born and raised in British Columbia, Mr. Cook received his Bachelor of Science in Business from Michigan Technological University in 1988. He is Chartered Accountant registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia.
Alistair began his career with Canfor in 1993 and has held a variety of Financial and Manufacturing roles throughout the entire organization.
Senior Vice President, Forestry/Environment and Energy
Mark Feldinger was appointed Senior Vice President, Forestry/Environment and Energy on May 6, 2011. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Feldinger held the position of Vice-President, Wood Products Manufacturing beginning in August 2007. He has also held a number of senior management positions in the Company, including Regional Manager-Prince George Region, General Manager-Prince George Division and General Manager-Interior Woodlands (BC and AB).
Born and raised in British Columbia, Mr. Feldinger received his Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of British Columbia in 1983. He is a Registered Professional Forester with the Association of B.C. Forest Professionals.
Mark began his career with Canfor in 1984 and has held a variety of Woodlands and Manufacturing roles throughout Canfor’s Wood Products Group.
Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Wayne Guthrie was appointed Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing on May 6, 2011, returning to Canfor after three years as Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Tembec. With a significant background in optimizing customer service and fostering collaboration in the refinement of supply chain processes, Mr. Guthrie’s prior senior management roles at Canfor include General Manager, North American Sales and Marketing and General Manager, Home Centre Sales.
Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, Mr. Guthrie began his career with Canfor in 1984 and developed an extensive knowledge of North American and offshore forest products markets during more than 23 years with the company.
Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer
Alan Nicholl was appointed Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer on May 6, 2011. Alan also holds the position of Chief Financial Officer of Canfor Pulp Products Incorporated, effective September 30, 2012.
Alan joined Canfor as Corporate Controller on April 1, 2008. For ten years prior to this, he held various senior financial positions within the Canadian forest products industry.
Born and raised in Northern Ireland, Alan received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Accounting from Bristol University, England in 1985. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia.
Vice President and Treasurer
Patrick Elliott was appointed Vice President and Treasurer on May 6, 2011. Prior to this, Mr. Elliott had been Treasurer since March 2007. Over 10 years with the Company, Mr. Elliott has held increasingly senior positions within the Finance department, including Manager, Treasury and Insurance, Manager of Planning and Treasurer.
Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Elliott worked for 6 years at KPMG Chartered Accountants, in audit and taxation.
Mr. Elliott was born in British Columbia and raised in Manitoba. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia in 1995. He is Chartered Accountant registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia.
Vice President, Human Resources
Onkar Athwal was appointed Vice President, Human Resources of Canfor Corporation effective September 24, 2012. Mr. Athwal is also Vice President, Human Resources of Canfor Pulp Products Inc. (CPPI). Mr. Athwal joined CPPI on February 6, 2012.
Prior to joining CPPI, Mr. Athwal was the Vice President, Human Resources & Strategic Planning with All Weather Windows from January 2009 to January 2012. From August 2001 to March 2008, he was Vice President, Human Resources/Operations with B.C. Maritime Employers Association, from August 1999 to July 2001, he served as Director, Labour Relations and from 1990 to July 1999, Manager, Labour Relations. Prior 1990, he was Human Resources Officer with BC Gas Inc.
Mr. Athwal has a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of British Columbia.
President, U.S. Operations
Doug Warstler was appointed President, U.S. Operations, on May 6, 2011. Prior to this, Mr. Warstler had served as President of New South Companies, Inc. (a U.S. subsidiary of Canfor) since October 2009 and as the Chief Financial Officer of New South since August 2000.
Prior to joining the forest products industry, Doug held a variety of senior financial positions with both manufacturing and technology companies in the U.S. from 1993-2000 and was a Certified Public Accountant with Price Waterhouse from 1981-1993.
Born in New Jersey and raised in Maryland, Doug received his B.S. in Accounting from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1981.
