2016 Annual United Way Campaign Smashes Previous Total

United.Way.Cougars
While fundraising was still underway, Canfor volunteers presented $300,000 to United Way of Northern BC at the Nov. 5 Cougars Game in Prince George. Our total raised was $316,000, which was $45,000 more than last year.

Each year, Canfor employees invest their time, energy and hard-earned dollars to help fundraise in our annual United Way Campaign. Once again, this long and proud tradition of ours achieved impressive results.

In our annual Canadian campaign, employees in BC and Alberta raised over $265,000. Every operation participated with more than half of the locations increasing their 2015 contributions. Our employees’ contributions, combined with a corporate donation of $50,000, brings Canfor’s grand fundraising total to $316,000, which is an impressive $45,000 more than our 2015 total.

Earlier this month, while fundraising was still underway, we presented $300,000 to United Way of Northern BC on Nov. 5 at a Prince George Cougars hockey game. The event brought out 30 Canfor volunteers to host the game along with our company mascot, Captain Canfor.

Our 2016 fundraising achievement demonstrates that our employees value the work that United Way does for each of their communities. As well, many employees were dedicated to organizing a variety of successful fundraising activities that included hot-dog eating contests, bake sales, barbecues in the snow, raffles and much more. We also hold a contest internally to award the location that raises the most amount per employees and this year our Vavenby operation won having raised $204 per employee.

For over 45 years, Canfor and our employees have shown incredible support for the United Way. From contributions and volunteering to campaign support, our employees’ generosity each and every year underscores the importance of United Way and the positive impact it makes on our communities.

Thanks to the success of the Canfor 2016 United Way Campaign, our employees not only raise funds to help fund valuable programs for people in need but also to build stronger communities.

UnitedWay.picDedicated employee volunteers arranged a wide variety of events including our Taylor Pulp Mill's Hot Dog Day. Taylor employees brought their warm Canfor Spirit on a cold day in support of United Way.
