PROGRAMME FOR THE ENDORSEMENT OF FOREST CERTIFICATION (PEFC)
Both the CSA and SFI sustainable forest management standards are endorsed by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). The world’s largest forest certification organization, PEFC recognizes national or regional certification standards that meet their rigorous requirements based on international criteria and indicators of sustainable forest management.

PEFC CHAIN OF CUSTODY
Canfor have 12 sawmill facilities certified to the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes (PEFC) chain of custody standard. PEFC chain of custody certification gives our customers confidence that Canfor products come from well-managed forests. By adhering to the chain of custody, Canfor commit to tracking every unit of lumber that comes from our mills from the forest of origin and through every step of the manufacturing process.
CANADIAN STANDARDS ASSOCIATION (CSA)
Canfor is committed to the sustainable management of our tenured forest resources. In line with this strong commitment in environmental performance, Canfor has independently third-party certified 85.8% of our woodlands operations to the Canadian Standards Association Sustainable Forest Management Standard ».
The CSA SFM standard is the leading certification standard in Canada. First released in 1996, it is Canada’s official national standard for sustainable forest management. The standards development process meets the strict rules that govern the Canadian Standards Association, Canada’s national standards-setting body. Open, transparent and driven by local public advisory groups, CSA forest certification helps Canfor deliver on our commitment to sustainable forest management across our woodlands operations.
