Gender Equality Week 2018

By Katy Player, Vice President, People and Communications

This year, Canfor participated in the Canadian Government’s first annual Gender Equality Week. Joining together with West Fraser, Tolko and Resolute we worked to shine a light on the women working in the forest products industry through the campaign #JoinTheJourney.

During the campaign, we showcased the journeys of Trina, Purchaser at our WynnWood operation, Lana a Maintenance Supervisor at Isle Pierre and Joan, our Turbo Generator C Operations Lead at the Northwood Pulp Mill.

Each of their stories are unique and we are very fortunate that their journeys brought them to Canfor. Women throughout the industry are actively changing the face of forestry. Today, it’s not uncommon to find women in our industry working as maintenance supervisors, engineers, tradespeople and more.

We are proud that at Canfor, we offer career development programs, custom leadership training and tailored mentorship programs to help foster a truly diverse and inclusive workplace.

Take a look back at this year’s campaign and #JoinTheJourney. If you missed our posts during Gender Equality week you can still see some of the amazing women working in the forest products industry and their stories! They can be found at www.JourneyForEquality.com or on our social media channels (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook).
