Converting sawmill residues into sustainable wood pellets reduces waste and creates a green energy source. The industrial grade fuel pellets provide clean biomass energy to customers in Europe, North America and Asia.
Our pellet facility in Houston, BC – owned and operated in partnership with Pinnacle Pellet Inc. and the Moricetown Indian Band – produces 217,000 tonnes of industrial wood pellets annually.
In partnership with Pacific Bioenergy Corporation, we opened a pellet facility in Chetwynd in late 2015, and one in Fort St. John in early 2016. Together, the two facilities have a combined annual capacity of 175,000 tonnes. The Chetwynd pellet plant also includes a 3MW combined heat and power plant, offsetting our electricity requirements and relieving power on the municipal grid.
Canfor Green Energy
Our 18MW Canfor Green Energy biomass cogeneration facility in Grande Prairie provides renewable heat and electricity for our Grande Prairie sawmill and sells renewable electricity to the Alberta grid.
