Remuneration

Entry-level production employees working for our Canadian operations earn substantially more than the minimum wage in the provinces where we operate. In British Columbia and Alberta, entry-level employees earn a starting wage between $19 and $29 an hour – roughly two times the minimum wage ($11.35 an hour in British Columbia and $13.60 in Alberta). In our US South operations, entry-level production employees are paid a wage consistent with the local markets.

We were again recognized as one of BC's top employers (2018) for encouraging lifelong learning, helping employees to plan for life after retirement, and encouraging employees to get involved in their community with paid time off to volunteer and matching charitable donations.

In 2017, we consolidated multiple employee benefits programs across the US South into one program. It offers benefits that are equal to or better than the original programs, and improves administrative efficiency. We also created and distributed a handbook with an overview of company policies for Canfor Southern Pine employees.
